Temporary Restrictive Measures Lifted from 3 Resorts of the Maldives
The Government of Maldives today lifted the temporary restrictive measures imposed, under the Public Health Act (7/2012), Article 12, for prevention and control of COVID-19 on the following resort island in the Maldives.
- Kuredu Isand Resort, effective from 16:00hrs,
- Sandies Bathala, effective from 19:00hrs,
- Kuramathi Maldives, effective from 19:00hrs.
With the decision, the management of the above mentioned resort islands should maintain the cordoned areas where individuals identified as high-risk must remain isolated for the duration mandated by the authorities. Further, individuals identified as low-risk are to segregated from the high-risk individuals.
In addition, the managements should also monitor and ensure individual adherence to infection prevention and control procedures. Furthermore, all individuals are subjected to exit screening prior to any movement out of the island. Finally, public health professionals should be present at the resort islands to implement infection prevention and control measures.
Today, the world health organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 as a pandemic. It is the first pandemic caused by a Coronavirus. WHO defines a pandemic as the worldwide spread of a new disease.
