On 30 January, a person fitting the surveillance criteria for a suspected case for 2019 – novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was kept in isolation for treatment and investigation. The laboratory test results for this case is negative for 2019-nCoV. In addition to this case, 6 others as described below were under monitoring and samples tested. The test results of these cases were also negative for 2019-nCoV. All 7 cases are now informed of their test results and they are no longer under surveillance and monitoring
Details of the 7 cases:
- 1 Maldivian who traveled from China, fitting the surveillance criteria of a suspected case
- 4 Maldivians who traveled from China and reported with acute respiratory symptoms but not fitting the surveillance criteria of a suspected case
- 2 Maldivians who traveled from China
Currently, there are no cases under surveillance and monitoring for 2019 – novel coronavirus.
